About Peoples Gas
Peoples Gas is the largest natural gas distribution company in Pennsylvania, providing reliable, low cost natural gas service to approximately 700,000 customers in Western Pennsylvania, Kentucky and West Virginia.
NOTE: Peoples Gas and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania have overlapping service territories. If you don’t know your utility company, check your natural gas bill or ask your neighbor. Moving to a new home? Ask your realtor or leasing agent.
Peoples Gas is a combination of three natural gas utilities in Pennsylvania: Peoples Gas Company LLC, Peoples Natural Gas Company LLC and Peoples Natural Gas -Equitable Division. All three now operate under a single rate tariff under the name Peoples Gas.
Parent company Essential Utilities operates water and natural gas utilities companies.
If Peoples is your natural gas distribution company, you can participate in PA Gas Choice and the Energy Choice Program. That means you can buy your natural gas supply from Peoples and pay their standard service offer rate, also called the price to compare. Or you can pick a competitive supplier licensed by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
When you buy your gas from a supplier, you can lock in a fixed rate plan for your gas. Otherwise, your natural gas rate changes quarterly.
