Vectren’s Natural Gas Utility System
Vectren’s natural gas system delivers gas to almost 1.2 million customers. That delivery uses 1,000 miles of transmission pipelines, and 22,000 miles of transmission pipelines.
Currently, Vectren Corporation is in the middle of a multi-year project designed to replace almost 2,000 miles of older pipeline across Ohio and Indiana. They plan to replace it with stronger, modern plastic pipeline.
The plan is intended to improve the natural gas delivery system of the company. But it also has side benefits such as 2,200 new jobs annually in the area. And almost $40 million in state revenue over the seven years of the project.
